FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

21st Annual Sandy Springs Festival

Sandy Springs, Georgia; August 9, 2006: Heritage Sandy Springs presents the 21st annual Sandy Springs Festival on Saturday, September 16th, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 17th, 2006 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The two-day Festival is the largest annual event in Sandy Springs, attracting 20,000 attendees and is held at Sandy Springs Historic Site & Park, located at 6075 Sandy Springs Circle, and the surrounding area. One-day admission is $5 for adults and $2 for youth ages 6-18. Heritage Sandy Springs members receive free entry. For information, call 404-851-9111 or log on to www.sandyspringsfestival.org.

“With 20 years of growth, we are focusing this year on quality instead of quantity,” said the Festival Director, Megan Webb, citing The Food Court as one example. “In years past, we have brought in terrific vendors to sell food and drinks at the Festival, however, this year we are highlighting only restaurants from Sandy Springs. It makes sense because we are a community festival, and we want to show off all that Sandy Springs offers.”

Another change for 2006 involves the Artist’s Market. “This year we are separating our Fine Crafters from our Fine Artists to make it easier for people to fine what they are looking for,” said Webb. All items sold in the Artist’s Market must be made by the hand of the artist or crafter. The Fine Crafters offerings include jewelry, furniture, custom soaps and lotions, candles, clothing, fashion accessories, food items, garden accessories, birdhouses and more. The Fine Artists section features painting, metal art, glasswork, photography and fine jewelry and offers a touch of “gallery ambience” with jazz, acoustic and blues performers alongside an area to purchase wine. The Fine Crafters are located along Sandy Springs Circle; the Fine Artist booths can be found on Hilderbrand Drive.

Sandy Springs Festival has ten distinct areas to visit. They are the Artist’s Market, SSBA Business & Civic Expo, Children’s Park, RBM Collector Car Show, The Food Court, Heritage Crafters, Pet Rest, Silent Auction, The Teen Territory and various venues for Live, Local Entertainment. Several of The Town Turtles of Sandy Springs will also be featured at the festival. The Sandy Springs Festival Presenting Sponsors are WSB 750 AM Radio and The Sandy Springs Society. Diamond Sponsors are the City of Sandy Springs, WSB-TV, Cornerstone Bank and BellSouth.

Winner of the HD 42'' Plasma Screen Television

Sandy Springs, Georgia; October 23, 2006: Heritage Sandy Springs presents the winner of the HD 42” Plasma Screen Television given away by Cornerstone Bank at the 21st annual Sandy Springs Festival during Saturday, September 16 and Sunday, September 17.  Caroline Anderson, a junior at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School, walked away with the prize.

During the Sandy Springs Festival, Caroline Anderson only filled out one entry form, which surprisingly was chosen as the winning ticket from over 1,000 entries.  “I received a voicemail while I was at school, which led me to speculate on the size of the television,” said Caroline.  After a weekend of eagerness and excitement, Caroline picked up her prize. The first thing she did was called her brother to announce her victory.  “The best part of winning, apart from getting the television of course, was sharing all the fun with the people I know,” said Caroline.

Cornerstone Bank was one of the main sponsors of this year’s Sandy Springs Festival.  The company sponsored the Cornerstone Bank Main Stage and provided the bags for all Festival attendees.  Catherine Ealick-Anderson, mother of Caroline, commented “Cornerstone Bank has such a good reputation in our community.”

Heritage Sandy Springs relies on its sponsors and volunteers to expand the Sandy Springs Festival each year, which is largest annual fundraising event for Heritage Sandy Springs.  To find out about the Festival or to see pictures from the 2006 Sandy Springs Festival, log on to www.sandyspringsfestival.org.
