Sandy Springs Festival
An award-winning festival!
HONEY/HONEYETTES OF SANDY SPRINGS
A gentleman/lady is suggested to be a HONEY/HONEYETTES contestant by someone in the community. The potential HONEY/HONEYETTES can be any age and must live, work or play in Sandy Springs. A person from the HONEY/HONEYETTES OF SANDY SPRINGS Committee will contact them and ask them to be involved with the contest. If the person agrees, a date is set to take their picture to decorate a box, which will be displayed at the Sandy Springs Festival on September 20-21. These pictures are taken in their environment where they live, work or play. Many different poses are taken including one mug shot for the front of the box. These pictures are then used to decorate their box. They are asked to complete a questionnaire that lists their hobbies and favorite activities – their get-to-know-me bios, which will also be displayed on their box. The boxes are given to the HONEY/HONEYETTES contestant the month before the Festival to be displayed where they live, work or play in Sandy Springs. People vote for the HONEY/HONEYETTES by dropping change, cash or checks (made out to “Sandy Springs Festival”) into the box. After the boxes have been with the HONEY/HONEYETTES for the month, all boxes are collected on the Friday of the Festival weekend. All the boxes are displayed in the HONEY/HONEYETTES OF SANDY SPRINGS TENT during the Festival. All HONEYS/HONEYETTES are asked to come by the tent during the Festival and encourage people to vote for them. On Sunday all voting will be closed at approx. 2 p.m. All the “votes” are counted and the HONEY and HONEYETTE for this year will be announced on the Cornerstone Bank Main Stage!!! The HONEY and HONEYETTE will win prizes and the honor of being the HONEY and HONEYETTE OF SANDY SPRINGS for 2008!!!!
All funds collected from this contest are used for cultural and education programs presented by Heritage Sandy Springs including the Student Art Show, Ghostly Gathering, Concerts by the Springs series, Heritage Gardening Series, Museum Week and more.
On to the Honeys!
